What do you think of the Carmelite monks of Wyoming?

We are in full support of these monks and believe that their charism is from God. If there is a specific issue you are wondering about, please watch our videos. We will address in the future any issues we have not addressed yet.

What do you think of the Church Militant report on these monks?

All of their conclusions are false. Again, please see our videos for further details.

If the monks are so great, why did you leave?

A vocation to this institute is a great grace from God. However, not all who enter there are called by Him to profess vows. We were called there for a time and received many graces through the monks' formation. However, we discerned that God was calling us elsewhere. All of us left with our superiors' blessings.

Why should I believe you instead of Church Militant?

All 5 of us were in the monastery for about a year or longer (approximately 2 1/2, 2, 1 1/2, 1, and 1 years). Augustine (the Church Militant informant) was there for 1 month.

There could still be abuse there, even if you did not see it.

This monastery is not a large monastery. It is more like a family of brothers. It would be extremely difficult to hide abuse from several members for several years. We would have easily been able to tell if the superiors were living a sinful life or if any of the brothers were constantly depressed. On the contrary, the superiors are very self-sacrificing, saintly men, and the monks are always joyful.

Are we paid or set up by the monks in any way?

No. Our reward for this work will be found in heaven.

Are you planning on contacting Church Militant?

No. We think that our YouTube channel is a better means to get this message out there. Plus, we cannot expect Church Militant to conduct an un-investigation of their own report.

What is the monks' status in the Catholic Church?

They are a public association of the Christian faithful under the Bishop of Cheyenne, Wyoming. They have the intention of becoming an institute of diocesan right and eventually pontifical right in the Church. Although not affiliated with the main branches of the Carmelite order (O.C.D. and O.Carm.), they have a distinctively Carmelite charism with a clear historical basis. To learn more, please visit their website linked at the bottom of this page.

Do the monks accept the documents of Vatican II as legitimate?

Yes. However with the bishop's permission, they celebrate the Carmelite liturgy, which predates the liturgical reforms of Vatican II. If you have questions about this, please contact the monks directly. They are more qualified to speak on this than we are, as they have earned or are working on advanced Church degrees in theology, philosophy, and canon law.
